Mr. Tigerman is certified as a trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He has, for many years, been a member of the faculty of the University of San Francisco School of Law Intensive Advocacy Program and the Stanford University Law School Advocacy Program. He is a member of the Board of Governors of both the Consumer Attorneys of California and the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), the Million Dollar Advocates' Forum and has an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell -- the highest rating available from that organization. He lectures on trial practice at seminars and meetings all over the country. In 2004, he was selected as a Northern California 'Super Lawyer.

Mr. Tigerman has obtained many substantial multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for his clients. He has successfully tried cases involving defective products, premises liability, auto accidents and medical malpractice.

Some examples of his significant verdicts include the following cases:

In Uttinger v. Owens-Illinois, Inc. and Western MacArthur Company , he obtained a $2.1 million jury verdict for a client diagnosed with mesothelioma. At the time (in 1992) it was the largest monetary award in an asbestos case in San Francisco history.

In Perez v. Owens Corning Fiberglas , he received a jury verdict of $1.5 million for a retired merchant seaman suffering from asbestosis.

In Brown v. Owens Corning Fiberglas , Mr. Tigerman obtained a jury verdict in excess of $2.25 million for an asbestos victim that included an award for punitive damages

In Hicks v. John Crane Corporation , he got a $5.1 million verdict against a zero dollar offer from the defendant.

In Lewis v. John Crane Corporation , Mr. Tigerman obtained a $4.95 million verdict for a mesothelioma victim against a zero dollar offer from the defendant.

In Taylor v. John Crane Corporation , he got a verdict of over $3 million dollars against a zero dollar offer from the defendant.

Mr. Tigerman was trial counsel as well as appellate counsel in the published cases of Medo v. Superior Court (1988) 205 Cal.App.3rd 64; Overly v. Ingalls Shipbuilding, Inc (1999) 74 Cal.App. 4th 164.

Stephen Tigerman is the first attorney in the nation to obtain a favorable jury verdict for a longshoreman injured by asbestos. He is also the first California lawyer to obtain a judgment against a shipyard for an asbestos injury basing his complaint on the legal theory of premises liability.

Mr. Tigerman has lectured on trial practice at national professional seminars and meetings. Since 1994, he has been a member of the faculty of the University of San Francisco School of Law Intensive Advocacy Program. He is also a member of the Advocacy Faculty of Stanford Law School. He is an at-large member of the Board of Governors of the Consumer Attorneys of California - the largest trial lawyer association in the state. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates' Forum.
